The winning team does get a prize. Contestants may vote for their own entries, but then voting will not be blind. Good luck. Pictures will not be included in this post, since the website for the teams shows more than enough to get you going.

It’s about time the 4th one got posted =p. Only kidding, We’re almost to the end of the competition, the deadline is just around the corner. This challenge is all about cooling off. That’s right, a water park is a great way to relax, and would be silly not to include in a summer themed park. Some of last weeks teasers can be found inside the post. Onto the requirements!

Pool complex requirements:

  • Wave pool with wave action
  • Two slides minimum, no limit on style/type of slide (i.e. doesn’t have to be just for kids)
  • One slide requires heavy theming
  • One stall/shop to sell water park attire (sun screen, sunglasses, inflatables, etc.)

A message from maskedbandit101:
“This concludes the official challenge portion of the competition. More concrete information about the next step will be coming in the final days. Thanks, and I hope you’ve found the challenges both fun and, well, challenging.”

Follow along in the thread, its gonna get juicy!

  • Two child-friendly flat rides
  • A water play area, with fountains, spill buckets, slides, whatever you feel fits

  • All the general rules apply to this challenge.
  • Any questions, just ask (in the thread)

Lets see some rockin’ work coming from this weeks challenge!

Summer Showdown 2009 – Challenge 1

The first challenge is here! Fire up your computers contestants, its time to grind those mouse wheels and pound those keys until you see a finished product. The first challenge is as follows (quoted from the competition thread):

Summer is all about being outdoors. Whether it’s playing, swimming, or cooking, great parties happen outside in summer. Along that idea, your first challenge is to create a restaurant that specializes in some sort of outdoor cooking. Maybe you want a southern BBQ pit that is famous for pulled pork. Maybe you’re catering to the vegetarian/vegan crowd with grilled tofu and special corn on the cob. Perhaps you’re a little more exotic and want to have a Hawaiian Luau every night. Me, I like to keep it simple: a nice pool party. Either way, the restaurant you come up with has a few criteria and considerations to keep in mind

Requirements:

  • Each restaurant must include a special cooking area, such as a grill/smoker that will prepare your unique cuisine.
  • Theme it to fit the style of food you being served. (This theme will become the theme for your entire park, so CHOOSE CAREFULLY!)
  • You must include an outdoor seating area, since this is summer, after all.
  • Get creative, and have fun!

Let’s get started!
